Call for Proposals

Proposals for the Leadership for Professional Learning Symposium are invited from across the globe from colleagues engaged in the work of professional learning in education and other disciplines.

Symposium Theme

The theme for the 2026 symposium is Leading Professional Learning: Revisiting and Reimagining Moral Purpose, which invites dialogue encouraging individual educators and communities of educators in revisiting and reimagining their sense of moral purpose.

Dialogue Protocol

The Symposium is a series of breakout sessions organized by track and relation to the symposium theme. Session hosts facilitate a 25 minute dialogue among participants using the LfPL Dialogue Protocol. The protocol structure should inform your proposal submission.

Abstract Guidelines

  1. Describe the goals of the dialogue. Address the Area(s) of Provocation your dialogue will focus on and how these goals connect to a problem, goal, or trend in the literature, policy, or practice. (75-100 words)
  2. Provide some background on the dialogue you aim to host. What data, theories, literature, and/or professional experience influenced your dialogue submission? How does this connect to revisiting and reimagining moral purpose in education? (75-100 words)
  3. Briefly describe what artifact you will share with dialogue participants to focus the discussion. This should be work in progress. The artefact(s) could include: initial evidence or findings from relevant research; emerging conceptual models, tools, or instruments; case studies; or video examples of practices or programs. (50 words)
  4. What is the main question that you would like to pose for group reflection during your dialogue? (25 words)

Submission Details

Our proposal submission deadline is October 31, 2025. Proposals should be submitted in English. Accepted proposals will be expected to attend the symposium in-person in Maine. If you are submitting with a co-presenter, please designate one person to submit your proposal – proposals should only be submitted once. Two proposals maximum per person.
